Power Outage - Oh NO!

Five inches of very heavy wet snow knocked out the power early Sunday morning for the Sugar Shack crew.
Not a problem for the experienced and skilled Seattle winter campers. Betsy solves her snow day power outage with an "I'll just stay in bed".

And look, the Easter Bunny has been doing a practice run or should I say practice hop?

Governor Walz Issues An Order

The Wedding That I Missed

A few years back my Godfather takes a beautiful bride right here, and I missed the wedding. I have at least witnessed the famous church. We were passing by on our fast trip home.

Shelter at Sugar Shack - Griggs Family Arrive - Stay Safe

Stuffed with everything but the kitchen sink and zoodler.

The Seattle Family Griggs drove cross country to shelter at home in the safety of the Sugar Shack.
It is reassuring to know that they left the national hot spot for Corvid-19 and will be staying save at Walleye World.

May their advetures begin.

Happy St. Patrick's Day Social Distancing

No ship's dining room for us.

Social Distancing, not a problem as we drive back home from Ft. Lauderdale.
Most of our time is safely spent in the car as we travel the back roads of America.

This looked like a safe spot to dine while continuing our being alone.

Corned Beef and Cabbage at the Cracker Barrel in Blythe, Georgia. Social distancing- well-done Bubbie.

Good Morning Daytona Beach

We did not make it very far but enjoyed the oceanside drive.

Good Morning Daytona Beach.

No time to bask in the sunshine but at least waking up to a gorgeous view was a plus.

Not even time for a walk on the beach.

Quick - Get Out of Town As Fast As You Can

HAL canceled our South American sailing, and things just are not feeling right.
Today six San Francisco counties announced "shelter in place" orders for all residents. This is the strictest measure of its kind yet in the  United States which directs everyone to stay inside their homes and away for others as much as possible. This order remains in place for the next three weeks in a desperate measure to curb the rapid spread of coronavirus across that region. That includes a combined population of more thann 6.7 million people.

As we Uber from Lauderdale by the Sea along Ocean Blvd to pick up the rental getaway car,
Peter asked the driver , "Where are all of the cars normally parked along the beach?"

"Why are there no people on the beach?"

"Why are there so many police cars, like every mile along the beach?"

This sign holds the answer: the beach is closed - no access to sand.

Peter picked up necessities for road tripping. Ready, set, here we go.

CDC Issues No Sail Order

CDC issues 30-day "No Sail Order"

COVID-19 has taken a foothold since I was in Seattle back when the Kirkland nursing home was first experiencing coronavirus cases. Before flying to Ft. Lauderdale it seemed absurd being told those over 60 years of age should not leave their homes.

Plan B - Rent a car and drive home via little-traveled back roads.

South America will have to wait just like our canceled Asia dream trip.

The first leg of our Asia Dream trip was a no go. With-in hours of that cancellation Peter booked South America. The Dubbai Suez trip still hangs out there. Time will tell...

The third leg Dubai Suez journey is a maybe.

Say What? No TP?

Thankful that our hotel has TP.  Sea Ranch Village would not have been able to help out if on a search for TP.

Difficult for me to identify with that 60 number.
Plugging my ears.

It's Greek to Me and Tim

It might be Seattle but it is Greek to me and Tim.

Lunch with Tim at our favorite Greek restaurant but this time only one meal for each of us, not two. Last year we each doubled our orders since they were so good. So proud of Tim and all that he has accomplished. It was not an easy task but he did it! Now for his graduation celebration.
