Opening Night 2013

First stop Honeymoon Hut where TH added snowshoes to GAB's feet for our
cold, late night trek down to the Sugar Shack.
No flashlights needed. The many stars in the sky were slightly dulled by the full moon lighting our way "over" (for some) the sparkling snow.  Snow conditions were wicked. With each step, my snowshoes sank down causing the tips to constantly get trapped under a crunchy crust which had formed on top of the treacherous snow.  Too many times, "Bubbie's fallen and can't get up". Lucky little lightweight GAB just danced on top of the snow.

SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!

TH had to shovel several feet of snow off of the front door so that we could enter the Sugar Shack for Opening Night 2013.

GAB discovers TH overwintered with Higgins and Wow, look how she has grown.
Actually, GAB welcomes M and M, guests of R to the Sugar Shack to kick off the 2013 season. After a while she finally gets their names straight.  Not sure that TH ever did though?

Memory Lane
Last year's opening day was March 19th and the temps were in the high 70's. This year, on March 29th, about 3 feet of snow to snowshoe over, and temps in the 20's at night. Forecast for April Fools Day to be record breaker for a new low. Time will tell.

Today's Lesson

University of Wisconsin--Platteville
Geotechnical Engineering
evening session with Professor Juan Roberto.

We learned everything that we wanted to know about Mohr's Circle tonight.

With spring break just around the corner, we luckily had delicious pizza before
class, which I do believe helped GAB's concentration. Her mind, as you know,  so
effortlessly wanders off to travel planning. That circle could easily have taken her away;
wheels on a bus to Bir or train ride to Tibet. It could even be the warm sunshine shining down on
a Panama City beach for the breakers.

Speaking of travel, what a beautiful ride along the river to Platteville. Thanks
professor for the route suggestion.

Well, it is said that March is the snowiest month. TH shoveled a nice runway for Higgins.
